D E N A will move you

Check out Berlin hotness D E N A gracing us with another dancefloor anthem. Get ready to shake that ass to Games.

D E N A is the music project of Berlin-based songwriter and vocalist Denitza “Dena” Todorova.
Born and raised in Bulgaria, few years ago she moved to Berlin, where she focused on writing music, singing and programming beats.

Dena stepped into focus as a guest vocalist on the two The Whitest Boy Alive albums. Currently she is finalizing her debut album with Finnish producer Jonas Verwijnen at Kaiku Studios in Berlin.

We are elated to have her debut 7″ available for pre-order.

Happy Holidays!

AE08 Yip Deceiver/ Kishi Bashi, Split 7"Hi everyone! Happy Holidays, or anti-holidays, or whatever best suits the way you roll at this time of year!

2011 is drawing to a close but we are making sure not to go out of it quietly. For starters, we’ll have AE08, Yip Deceiver/ Kishi Bashi, Split 7″ shipping (as of next week) out to all of you who can’t make it to the upcoming Yip Deceiver shows. Pick that up here. (Or you can wait til next march and grab it “on the streets” but that lacks the fun period of being ahead of the curve and openly judging your friends.) Oh yeah, and those upcoming Yip Deceiver shows? You should go. Here’s the rundown:

12-17 – Los Angeles, CA – The Echo
12-18 – Phoenix, AZ – The Rhythm Room
12-19 – Tucson, AZ – Plush
12-21 – Austin, TX – The Mohawk
12-22 – Corpus Christi, TX – Threads
12-23 – Houston, TX – Rudyard’s Pub
12-24 – Mobile, AL – Ugly Sweater Dance Party @ Alabama Music Box
12-31 – Athens, GA – Go Bar
01-10 – New York, NY – Piano’s
01-11 – Philadelphia, PA – Fire
01-12 – Washington, DC – the Velvet Lounge
01-13 – Baltimore, MD – the Metro Gallery
01-14 – Richmond, VA – Strange Matter

It doesn’t stop there, though. We’ve also got a digital holiday compilation around the corner with some treats from our catalog and some new stuff you haven’t seen yet. Keep your eyes on the site for the release, which will come shortly. As this article is being written we are doing all manner of digital stuff and compiling. You know, fancy music business stuff. It’s all kinds of glamorous.

And much as the string of Yip Deceiver’s dates runs into 2012, so do all of our plans. We have a full release schedule coming up this year. Here’s the stuff you can be looking for:

AE09 DENA, Boyfriend 7″single w/ download, March

AE10 Kishi Bashi full length CD/digital, April

AE11 Yip Deceiver full length Vinyl/CD/digital, May

AE30 Aerobic International summer compilation, June/July

AE12 Lonely Paul EP, August

AE13 Yip Deceiver EP, September

We’ll probably add some things, probably move some things and some crazy technology will be introduced that changes the way we do some other thing. So, the best strategy is probably to just come by here all the time and buy things. Then, once you’ve purchased the whole catalog, you can start buying it for friends. Right when you think the whole adventure is over, we’ll release something else. Everyone wins.

At any rate, that’s a quick rundown of the things we’ve got in store this month and beyond. Thanks to all of you for making it out to shows and buying things and supporting the wonderful people who make this label a label. We’ll be posting free mix tapes for downloads in the coming weeks and keeping you up to speed on all the stuff we have going on. Stay tuned.

Summer News

Summer is here and Aerobic international is keeping it cool with enough action to carry you through to the Fall. This last month has seen the road covered thoroughly by Aerobic artists, hard work put in at the studio by new additions to the family, the beginning of the digital re-release  of the initial 7 inch series, and new designs being conjured in the fashion department. We are excited to share some of what we’ve been doing and what’s to come.

Kishi Bashi, following the release of his debut EP “Room for Dream,” is wrapping up a successful month long US tour both opening for and accompanying Norwegian singer/songwriter Sondre Lerche. If you haven’t yet heard the EP you can listen to two songs from it on their Bandcamp page http://kishibashi.bandcamp.com. It’s an enchanting EP that offers an escape in to other realms, both familiar and foreign and the live show delivers the same.

Yip  Deceiver, still working hard after the release of their debut 12″ EP,  made it up to Calgary for two nights at the Sled Island Festival and is  playing select dates in the States during July and September.  Look out  for a video, now in the works, for “Get Strict,” directed by Brandon  LaGanke and featuring comedian and musician Reggie Watts as well as  other special guests. Vinyl copies of the Yip Deceiver 12″ are still  available and there is now an extended digital version featuring a remix  by Lonely Paul. For now check out Ryan Murphy’s video for Obnoxia edited by Neil Cicierega above.

Meanwhile, down in Birmingham, Danielle DeLuna who, under her Nastique moniker, has provided remix work for Aerobic, is now putting the finishing touches on her solo EP due out digitally on Aerobic this Fall. Sure to be full of pleasant surprises, keep an ear out for emerging material from this release. In the meantime, check out her remix of Sugar and Gold’s “Feels Like Fire.” There’s an accompanying video that’s wicked fun too.

Also, as promised, the first of the digital extended rereleases of Aerobic’s 7 inch series, Falsetto’s “San Francisco Nights” will be available this summer with the other three EPs following soon. The original material, plus new remixes, of all four of the inauguratory Aerobic series, beginning with the Aerobic’s own Nicolas “Painless” Dobbratz’s collaboration with Baron Von Luxxury, Falsetto and covering the Stength, Sugar and Gold, and Social Studies singles too.

And finally, in the wardrobe department, Aerobic is excited to announce a Fall line of earings, pendants, and scarves. Designers are hard at work and promising fun new looks for the Fall season which will make perfect additions to the socks and tees already available. Not good at sitting still, Aerobic is brimming with other crazy plans too so stay tuned and enjoy the sun.
